Purchased this laptop to replace a 2013 model. I have been blown away by the speed, the bright crisp display. The keyboard takes some getting use too for sure, but it’s not bad. I know I will get use to it quickly. The big trackpad is very nice. Then there is the touch bar, which is interesting. I have really gotten use out of it and I really didn’t think I would. The one thing about this model too is that it has 4 USB-C Thunderbolt 3 Ports. The non touch bar version only has 2. Also I really like using Touch ID to be able to login to my computer. Overall this is a sweet MacBook Pro and I know it will last me for awhile given the 2013 model has giving me great performance for many years. One thing even though this machine was described as Used- Very Good. Which I got it for $200 less than full retail and no tax ($1599) Maverick Macs. It has zero scratches on the case, the display is perfect. The only way I could tell it was used, was because the battery cycles was like 8 or 9. I was also able to purchase Apple Care without issues via Apple’s web site. So, now I am covered for 3 years should anything happen. Apple computers are always expensive, but for me I can’t imagine ever going back to a windows machine so it’s worth the money.

Update: 8/31/17 Started my MacBook Pro tonight to check email and do a bit of reading.. The Touch Bar remains lit up and has lines running up and down it. I tried everything I know, but I cannot resolve this issue. Apple support says it’s hardware. I also noticed tonight that the machine was very slow rebooting and one time I even got (?), but then it booted okay. I am thinking something has gone wrong. Apple was going to setup a repair, but I told him that I thought I was still in my 30 day return window so they suggested I go ahead and do that. So unfortunately with 2 days left before my window for returning closes.. I am sending this one back. I really like this thing and I will get another.

5.0 out of 5 starsThe Touch Bar is Fancy and Cool

I’m a Mac fan since I bought my first one 8 years ago, I always try to keep up with the new models and changes in technology. This MacBook Pro with Touch Bar is just so neat and cool. The touch bar is the major difference with my previous one and I love it. The fingerprint scan works way better than the one on my iPhone, and it makes online purchases and signing in your computer so much easier.
I love the text prediction and how easy is to use emojis with the touch bar, as well as the controls for volume, and stop, play, rewind etc for video players (VLC, you tube, etc)
I’m very pleased with the small changes from the previous model that I owned: size of the track pad (is pretty big and conformable), speaker volume (significantly louder than my old Mac Retina display), overall performance (it feels faster than my old Mac)
Things that I don’t like: USB-C ports are annoying… I bought a convertor that works (USB, HDMI and SD card convertor), but is not the same as just having the ports in there.
But Overall I’m pretty happy with my new Mac.

4.0 out of 5 starsGreat laptop, Not a fan of the USB-C charging ports

Laptop is perfect. Looks great & runs pretty well. However I don’t necessarily support Apple’s decision to turn all the ports on the side to USB-C. The worst part of this is the laptop doesn’t even come with the USB-C adapter to charge your iPhone or any other type of device that requires a standard USB port, so I couldn’t even charge my own iPhone for the first few days through my laptop until my USB-C adapter came in…

My first Mac, got it as a starter for Xcode and app development. Now I primarily use it for java programming w netbeans. Definitely enjoy having a more Linux like system but a couple things drive me nuts:
-The touch pad makes me want to ram my fist through it, gratuitously annoying to use.
-battery life is not even in the woods of 10hrs, it’s a hilarious suggestion.
-keyboard is not very likeable
-Apple seems dead set on syncing your devices together regardless of your consent. Your FaceTime logs, texts, etc will auto sync so be aware with that. It infuriates me.

Pros:
-Fast machine for the spec(I keep mine pretty sparse, however)
-screen is fantastic, would buy for this alone
-very thin
-the tiny speakers in it sound flat out amazing for the constraints they have (I Work in pro and consumer audio product development)
-Overall pleasant to use minus the touchpad and finally figuring out how to turn off device syncing
-touchbar is a cool glowy thingy but hasn’t fundamentally changed my existence

Like I said, I use this machine for web/Java dev with netbeans and I prefer it to my thinkpad (which I love like a son). As someone who needs a business focused machine as well as embedded toolsets/ide’s, a Mac will (likely) never be my primary device but this thing surprised me. Would buy again but def go for larger screen. It’s an aggressive Palm pilot at this size

Very fine laptop… or rather say MacBook. Sleek, fast, abd easy in use. Better then the MacBook air. Especially the picture Quality and other functions such as the touchbar touch id and keyboard.
