Samsung NU7100: Consumer Reviews

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

The price of the Samsung NU7100 varies from different retailers.  Best Buy was found to have the lowest price of all the retailers at the time of the search for the Samsung NU7100.  Prices change so I would advise to click on the retailers to the right and type Samsung NU7100 in the search of the site to check the price.  I have also included customer reviews below, the reviews are different on every site.  So again the best option is to check the sites by clicking on the retailers to the right, and a new tab will open directly to that site.  Good luck with your purchase, and have a great day!

Great all around TV
Posted 3 weeks ago
This TV replaced a Sony 36 XRB tube set that I bought new back in 1998 that finally crapped out on me. The XRB ran at 1080i resolution and really an outstanding picture for the day. Really the best tube set ever, but I was very appreciative that BB took the old 300 pounder away for only $20. (I think that whole side of the house rose 1/2″ when they dragged it out.) The picture on the this 55″ set is almost 4 times larger than the old one and it’s crystal clear. I’ve had great luck with my dual Samsung monitors on my computer so I was leaning more toward Samsung than the other brands. The only negatives are that it doesn’t come with a component input, (but I only have a single device that uses component anyway), and you’ll need to get a sound bar, it’s sound output is kind of weak. Though it may be the stations themselves; TBS seems to be the worst, sound on Ad’s way too loud and movie sound way too soft. Do have it running though my 7.2 receiver, but it’s nice not to have to have that running all the time. The Samsung found my network right away and the interface is pretty easy. I downloaded the apps for both my phone and tablet and they work great. Highly recommended.

Ruined just at 31 days
Posted 1 month ago
Have always loved Samsung, never ever had any issues…..I have always had Samsung phones, TV’s, DVD players, Bluray players. I have a Plasma that is almost 10yrs old and still using it with a great picture. This TV’s picture was excellent to begin with. Now 4 days after the 30day return policy (BestBuy Elite Member) the top 1/4 of my screen has gone out (See picture). I would not even think this would happen from a Top brand company who has been around the block for years would make bad quality like this. I choose Samsung over a TV that was $200 cheaper due to the reputation and quality product……for now on I will think twice and extra hard before buying a Samsung product. Not happy one bit that I need to go through a lengthy process now through Samsung isntead of BB, specially after all the money I spend at BB over the years!

Great value for a mid-range price.

The picture is UHD goodness! Size and brightness works well for our viewing area. I think it’s a general 4K thing but movement seems much more fluid relative to HD-1080p and takes a little bit to get used to. One month in now and it still strikes me sometimes when watching action sequences and intros.

We use it for streaming 4K movies primarily and have tried both the LAN and wifi without noticing a lot of difference between the two. Remote control and switching of source audio/video using the TV control via ARC-HDMI works the same as it did with the previous television despite our using an older surround receiver.

My only complaint – with a cost of one star, is due to the flakiness of one of the Samsung hub streaming applications. While watching two different (rented $) movies, on separate occasions $$, the app decided to crash and reboot the set. Then, on reconnect, act up in different ways with varying short periods of buffering, viewing or crashing again. Using the other applications and an external Android tv box resolved that.

One Major Feature Missing
Posted 1 month ago
There are many great features but the one missing is the ability to assign a default input at power up. This negates all of the many positives! 99% of the time I want my cable box to be the active input when I turn on TV. There are many device inputs and several USB power ports so things like fire stick can get power from the TV. When you turn on the TV the first powered up device is the port selected. I have many devices and needed to get a TV with multiple device inputs because I would have to connect them when I want to view them. With this TV, because the cable box takes time to power up, it is always the last of my devices to become active. So in actuality having many inputs along with USB power ports makes me have to avoid using them. Even if I don’t use the USB power, the devices initialize much faster than the cable box, so they still are the active inputs. If that one control was available, then this would be a FABULOUS TV. Without it, the TV is as useLESS as a 20 year old TV!

Great middle of the road television.

I purchased this television at a memorial day sale and have been pretty happy with it so far. The picture, brightness, and contrast are pretty decent and the sound has improved a lot over previous Samsung models. I have not watched any UHD content, but the regular HD movies and television shows all are acceptable. The internet television works great and the menus are easy to navigate. If you were going to use this as a television for the family room, I would definetely consider the Q models over the 7 series for the best viewing experience. But for a bedroom or family room, this television will work nicely.

After 5 months, needs repair
Posted 1 week ago
Bought tv in March. August 29th, it starts blinking. At first, intermittently, then constantly. Goes dark for a second or 2, comes back on, repeat. Called Samsung, updated tv, went back to mfg settings, nothing helped. Spoke to 3 different folks at Samsung, finally technician coming out in a week. In looking at Samsung blogs, this is a common occurrence with their current product line. I was on one blog that had 76 pages of dissatisfied customers commenting on this same problem. Some customers were able to get it fixed, most were not. Take this into consideration when purchasing Samsung.

Great tv for the price
Posted 1 month ago
I was looking for a moderately priced led tv to upgrade an order LCD to. I have younger kids that may throw stuff around so I didn’t want to spend a ton on something really high end yet also didn’t want one of those wholesale club versions with antiquated internals. I have been very pleasantly surprised by the quality of this tv. Set up for Wi-Fi was easy and both the picture and sound are great given this isn’t the top of the line model. My only complaint so far is that while I have everything run through my Sony ES receiver the tv will occasionally turn on the DVD player randomly while I am watching cable. There may be a setting I haven’t found yet but my old Sony LCD didn’t do this with the exact same setup.

I previously had a Plasma TV (Pioneer)
Posted 1 month ago
I thought it would be hard to match the performance of the Plasma set which was a pioneer which had a very good picture. This Samsung set surpasses the Plasma performance in terms of color and definition. I am very satisfied with this purchase especially at 1/2 the price of the Plasma. In the same overall measurement of the Samsung compared to the Plasma, the Samsung has a significant larger screen area. This model is hard to beat compared to any model of it’s category.
